Morrisons in jobs bonanza

Hundreds of jobs have been created by three new supermarkets which open today.

Bradford-based Morrisons said its new shops in Streatham, south London, Dover, Kent, and Willenhall, near Wolverhampton in the West Midlands, has meant 800 new jobs.

Of those, 350 positions were filled by people previously unemployed. The new jobs include bakery assistants, checkout operators and managers.

The three new stores are part of a nationwide expansion plan, which will see the company increase selling space by one million square feet over three years.
