Metro banks on innovative HR software

Cascade, based in Leeds, is providing Metro with specialist human resources software designed to help it achieve its growth plans.

Metro Bank promised to revolutionise the British banking experience through offering retail opening hours, unparalleled service and a simple range of products but has so far received an uncertain response from industry commentators.

The bank has four London branches already, which it

said are performing well, and plans to open more than 200 more by 2020, which will pose HR challenges.

Craig Donaldson, Metro chief executive, said: "Two hugely important factors for us are staff morale and human resource efficiencies, both of which must be securely underpinned by a highly effective HR infrastructure – and we've found that with Cascade."

Metro is using Cascade's core HR software, as well as the timesheet, workflow and self-service modules.

Cascade project manager Lee Harding said "This has been a fantastic project for Cascade for a number of reasons; because Metro Bank wants to bring about major change, its corporate ethos is all about being receptive to new initiatives, and this was reflected in the mindset of the staff.

"Everyone really got behind the installation which took just six weeks from our initial meeting through to project initiation, planning, data collation and integration.

"We work with some very large organisations but Metro Bank will be one of our most rapidly growing clients."
