Leeds-based Wilton Developments acquires site that could create 1,000 jobs

A Yorkshire-based company has acquired a development site which could create more than 1,000 jobs.

Leeds-based Wilton Developments plans to deliver a major commercial property scheme at the 33-acre Dynamo Park site in Stockton-On-Tees which it has purchased for an undisclosed sum.

The developer is also behind the recently completed Latitude logistics development on the M62 near Leeds and Enterprise Park in Barnsley, and the 70-acre Turbine Business Park in Sunderland.

The Dynamo Park scheme has the space to deliver around 600,000 sq. ft of industrial, storage and warehouse space.

In a statement Wilton said: “The site benefits from an outline planning permission for almost 400,000 sq. ft. of commercial space and reserved matters permission for around 220,000 sq. ft. Together this could create more than 1,070 jobs on the site, with many more in associated supply chains linked to the scheme.”

Jason Stowe, Managing Director of Wilton Developments, said: “The scheme will deliver high quality employment space, job opportunities, inward investment and economic growth in the area, capitalising on the lack of available opportunities in the wider north east for businesses wanting to upgrade their facilities to new levels of design and ESG (environmental, social and governance) credentials.

He added: “The acquisition provides a great opportunity to deliver a variety of industrial, storage and warehouse space adjacent to the A19.”

The spokesman added: “The company also secured the largest single reserved matters planning permission in the UK for 1.15 million sq. ft. of industrial space at Doncaster North, as part of a 2.26 million sq. ft. of reserved matters consents in the first phase.

"These consents are part of Wilton’s wider 3.5 million sq. ft. industrial and logistics development close to the M62/M18 interchange which is set to create around 8,500 jobs for the region.”

Wilton Developments has delivered new and refurbished commercial space across the North of England. Last month, Wilton revealed it had secured detailed full planning permission for its LEEDS 500 scheme on the M1 north of Garforth.

The industrial and logistics team at CBRE in Leeds has been appointed sole agents on the first phase of this scheme which will accommodate a 492,500 sq ft logistics and industrial unit. The 75 acre development site was acquired by Wilton Developments and detailed planning permission has been secured for a major distribution unit on part of the site.

The first phase of the scheme will comprise a 465,000 sq ft warehouse with 23,000 sq ft of office accommodation over two floors and a 5,000 sq ft warehouse hub office, which could support around 600 jobs.

Speaking last month, Mike Baugh, Executive Director at CBRE said:

“This will be a superb logistics facility with first class ESG credentials, which continue to be sought after by occupiers, as well as benefiting from its prime location close to the motorway networks and many local amenities.”
