Lawyers illuminate resort

LAWYERS from Leeds have helped to light up Blackpool.

The team from Pinsent Masons assisted Blackpool Borough Council with a 156m PFI deal to procure and maintain street lighting and traffic signals in the seaside resort.

The firm said it advised on all aspects of the deal including contract procurement and negotiation. It comes after the successful close of a 65m deal to replace and maintain all street lighting in Surrey.

The Blackpool deal promises to help overcome the maintenance backlog for street lighting and traffic signals apparatus, and fund the installation of new items, including 13,000 street lights during the first five years of the project as well as the maintenance of all street lighting and traffic signal services in the town for the next 25 years.
