Haven Primrose Valley: Name revealed of new £1.1m Wetherspoon pub opening at holiday park

The pub, called The Five Stones, is opening at Haven’s Primrose Valley holiday park following a £1.1m investment in refurbishing an existing bar on the site.

Pub manager Andy Milner said: “We’re really excited to start the season by opening the doors of our brand-new pub to our owners and holidaymakers.”

Wetherspoon commercial director, Michael Barron, added: “We are delighted to be opening at Primrose Valley holiday park. A spokesperson for the pub said: “The name of the pub links to several Roman ‘finds’ that have been unearthed in and around Filey.

"In 1924, fragments of Roman pottery were discovered near what is now the main entrance of Primrose Valley Holiday Park. In 1857, five large stone blocks were uncovered on the Filey Sea Front.

"The five stones supported a 4th-century Roman signal station, 30 metres high and 14 metres square, with a beacon on top that was lit when invading ships were spotted. The five carved stones are on display in the sea-front gardens.”
