Emis wins £7.6m contract with NHS Wales

The​ ​Leeds-based g​roup said the deal will enable the six health boards within NHS Wales to deploy Emis’s clinical information and management solution, Symphony, into their emergency department and minor injuries units.

There is an option to extend the contract for a further four years.

The agreement includes software and hardware, as well as implementation services and ongoing support and maintenance.

“As well as providing vital information to clinicians in a hospital setting, Symphony will facilitate integration of care by those hospital clinicians and the hundreds of Welsh GPs who already use Emis Group software.”

The ​g​roup also announce​d​ ​the appoint​ment of​ Duane Lawrence as ​m​anaging ​d​irector of its ​s​econdary ​c​are division.

Mr Lawrence was previously chief executive of InferMed, which provides advanced decision support software in healthcare settings across the world.

He was also general manager of Misys Healthcare International, helping to set up its international healthcare business.

Mr Spencer said he brings 25 years’ experience in sales and operations across both primary and secondary care systems.

​“​His extensive experience in managing healthcare businesses in the UK and internationally will be a valuable addition to the ​g​roup​,” said Mr Spencer.​

​​Last week, Emis reported a 30 per cent increase in annual revenue. The group said trading in 2014 was in line with expectations and it is has significant revenue visibility.

The firm said its Emis Web for GPs is now live in 4,261 practices, up from 3,327 practices last year.

The roll-out programme in England is almost complete, and in Wales all the group’s practices are scheduled to have switched to Emis Web by the end of this year.

In Northern Ireland, practices will begin to upgrade to Emis Web for the first time in the latter part of the year.
