Day picks up the Yorkshire lawyer of the year accolade

Ms Day also picked up the managing partner of the year award at the Yorkshire Lawyer Awards, which attracted an audience of 420 people to New Dock Hall in Leeds.

Ms Day was described by the judges as “an exceptional lawyer” and “an ambassador for Yorkshire which she has promoted as a legal and business hub”.

The audience also saw Trevor Lewis, the former joint senior partner of Hammond Suddards, collect a joint Presidents’ Award on behalf of himself and his late colleague, Alan Bottomley.

Together, Mr Lewis and Mr Bottomley transformed the Bradford-based practice, A. V. Hammond & Co, into a major national firm.

Les Charneca, the chairman of Barker Brooks Communications, which has run the awards since their inception in 2000, said: “The awards have been bigger and better than ever before this year.

“The world class legal services that we have in Yorkshire have once again been on display for all to see. The county continues to win business and attract top lawyers.”

Other award winners included Ridley & Hall Solicitors, Blacks Solicitors, DWF, DLA Piper, UK Asset Resolution, Satpal Roth, the founder of Kher Solicitors, Lesley Archer from Cooper Wilkin Chapman, Makin Dixon Solicitors, Eversheds, Chris Fry, Unity Law, Squire Sanders corporate recovery team, KBW Chambers, Lucy Angus from Unity Law and Alistair MacDonald of New Park Court Chambers.

The guests also raised £3,241 for Yorkshire Cancer Research.
