Centre manager ‘passionate’ about his city

JIM Harris, the manager of St Stephen’s Shopping Centre in Hull, has been appointed as the new chairman of Hull Business Improvement District (HullBID), which seeks to help businesses in the city grow and progress sustainably.

Mr Harris is the successor to Victoria Jackson, whose business interests include Hull-based Kingston Recruitment, which she founded nearly 28 years ago. She was appointed as chairman of HullBID late in 2009.

Mr Harris said: “I am genuinely passionate about Hull. I am well aware of the pressure facing city centre businesses and I intend to work to build on the considerable achievements of Victoria and the success so far of HullBID and help to make it even stronger.”

Elsewhere, Harrogate-based Engage Mutual has appointed Kate McIntyre to the position of health director.

She will be responsible for running the mutual’s health business and tasked with growing its share of the health market. She also becomes a member of the organisation’s executive committee.

She cut her teeth as an auditor at professional services firm PwC before going on to hold senior positions at First Direct, HBOS and AXA PPP healthcare and joins from her role as group finance director at marketing and consulting business, We are 2020.

Yorkshire Building Society has appointed a new general manager to be responsible for developing and supporting the mutual’s workforce.

Jane Hanson has been made ‘general manager – people experience’ and will oversee HR and internal communications among the 4,100 staff employed at offices and branches across the UK.

She has previously worked with Alliance & Leicester, HSBC and First Direct.

Rachel Court has been made ‘general manager – customer experience’, having been with the Yorkshire since 1991.

Property consultancy Knight Frank has strengthened its property management team in Yorkshire with the appointment of Sarah Hodgson.

She joins as partner in the Leeds property management team. She was previously an associate director with DTZ in Leeds, having also worked for King Sturge and St Quintin/CBRE.

The banking and finance team at Yorkshire law firm Gordons has recruited associate Robert Farrell from Addleshaw Goddard. Mr Farrell was with his previous firm for over five-and-a-half years, working in its Leeds office.
