Bosch hits the North with opening of £1.2m green facility

KITCHEN appliances maker Bosch UK has opened a £1.2m state-of-the-art facility in Wakefield in a major investment in the region.

The new facility is part of a push to improve service and support to Bosch’s northern customers.

The firm, which makes dishwashers, fridges, freezers and washing machines, said the new facility has been designed to BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) standards in order to minimise energy use and reduce water consumption

The site, located at Devilliers Way in Normanton, near Wakefield, will consolidate three Bosch sites in the North of England into a single location.

The facility, built on a 3.6-acre site, equivalent to two football pitches, will provide customer service and support to its Bosch Rexroth mechanical engineering customers and training to its installers in the heating and hot water sector.

The facility includes a 21,150 sq ft workshop and a 9,300 sq ft training area, including seminar rooms and office space.

In order to comply with BREEAM standards, the facility has been designed to minimise energy use through thermal loss, and includes a high efficiency boiler; intelligent low energy lighting systems and motion sensor taps which reduce water consumption and wastage.
