Biofuel company joins city network

Another 10 businesses have joined Bondholder Scheme Ltd taking membership to 139.

The new members range from major businesses to sole traders. Vivergo Fuels, whose new bio-refinery at Saltend is due to start production of bioethanol and its animal feed by-product this summer after a massive construction programme, has joined the scheme because it wants the Hull area to prosper, said managing director, Dr Dave Richards.

The plant, which will use one million tonnes of wheat, will create 70 full-time jobs and generate more than a 1,000 jobs locally.

Another new member, Chester-based restaurant chain, Red House British Brasserie, is on an expansion course and plans to open further restaurants, including York and Manchester, after a successful move into St Stephen’s.

Jim Dick, chair of the advisory group that runs the scheme, said: “We live in a highly competitive world and it is essential that we work together to change perceptions of Hull and give the city an edge.”
