Big increase in serviced offices

The number of serviced offices in Leeds and Sheffield has more than doubled in recent years.

Research by managed office service provider Instant found that there were 18 serviced office centres in Leeds in 2006, which grew to 39 by 2011. In Sheffield, there were 10 centres in 2007, rising to 24 in 2011. Leeds is the sixth largest UK serviced office market, while Sheffield is the ninth.

Patrick Elliott, chief executive of Instant, said: “We believe the reason for the growth is that advances in technology have revolutionised the way businesses occupy office space. Large corporate offices that would traditionally provide a desk for each employee are now reducing the amount of space that they occupy and embracing flexible working practices.”
