Apple launches
cheaper cut-down
version of iPhone

Apple has launched a cheaper version of its existing iPhone 5c smartphone, cutting £40 from the current retail price, but slashing memory to 8GB – half that of the previous cheapest model.

The current model, at £429, is still relatively expensive compared to rival Android devices and Apple has failed to sell the iPhone 5c in significant numbers, with most buyers preferring to spend extra for the more powerful and better-equipped Apple 5S smartphone.
