Angels are spreading their wings

BUSINESS angels in Yorkshire are helping to fill the funding gap for entrepreneurs and growing businesses across the region and beyond.

The Yorkshire Association of Business Angels (YABA) said although the number of companies looking for financial support from business angels shows no sign of falling, people have to be prepared to travel to meet angel networks prepared to invest in them.

YABA manager Barbara Greaves said: “Recent angel investment in companies from Newcastle and Cambridge shows that our members have the appetite to help companies grow and fulfil their potential.

“However, YABA’s growing number of Yorkshire angel members would love the opportunity to not only help businesses but also grow the economy within their own region, so I would like more Yorkshire businesses seeking investment to get in contact with us.”

YABA recently invested in mobile m-commerce app builder MobiCart from Newcastle and Cambridge-based microbiological testing company BACTEST.
