Health Matters: Students offer therapy in city

The new Queen Square Wellness Centre – a student-run clinic for acupuncture, herbal medicine, osteopathy, counselling and life coaching, supervised by qualified practitioners – has been launched at Leeds Metropolitan University.

Previously named The Clinic, the Queen Square Wellness Centre is in Leeds City Centre and offers services to the public – as well as students and staff – and aims to provide relief from conditions such as stress, allergies, digestive disorders, coughs and colds, anxiety, or sports injuries.

Treatment is provided by final year Leeds Metropolitan students in the university's Faculty of Health.

Put your mind to football

Concord Sports Centre has started a partnership with Sheffield City Council to help people with mental health issues through sport.

Minds Over Football training sessions will give adults with mental health issues an opportunity to participate in regular football matches, meet new people and develop their sporting ability. Concord will be the home for these weekly sessions, which are part of Sheffield City Council's Activity Sheffield initiative.

Coaches from Activity Sheffield will be on the look out for seven-a-side players to compete in the Yorkshire and Humberside Positive Mental Attitude League. For more information, call 0114 257 0053, or visit www. concordsportscentre.co.uk.
