Arts Diary: Will Marriott

Bradford Playhouse's artist in residence Douglas Thompson is looking for help in creating what he calls the world's first Surrealist Pantomime. Thompson is part of the group Performance, Absurd Acts and Frolicking, or PAAAF, the organisation behind the surrealist pantomime. Thompson says the pantomime "will be a very different type of pantomime set in Victorian England and tipping its hat to steampunk, black comedy, surrealism and everything absurd".

Anyone interested in getting involved is invited to contact Thompson on [email protected] or on 01274 820666.

John Lowrie Morrison – known as 'Jolomo', apparently – is exhibiting his sought-after work at the Walker Galleries in Harrogate from tomorrow. He has pledged his support to The Carers' Resource – a charity which has helped more than 12,000 unpaid carers since its launch 15 years ago – by agreeing to donate the full proceeds from the sale of one of his original paintings on display, Benbecula Reflections. Anne Smyth, founding director of The Carers' Resource, which has bases in Harrogate, Ripon, Bradford and Skipton, said: "This is a tremendous gesture which will help to raise the profile of the important work we do."

The exhibition, From Argyll to the Hebrides, runs for a week from tomorrow.

We do hope this isn't a bad sign. Just a couple of months after being opened by the Queen, the open air theatre in Scarborough has announced it is cancelling an event. The company organising the 360 Extreme Sports Festival, which was due to take place from today until Sunday, has cancelled the festival. Anybody who has purchased tickets for the festival or concert should return to the organisation they bought them from to arrange a refund; this includes the North Bay Railway and Tourist Information Centres. However, anybody who has purchased via ticketline will be automatically refunded to the Credit or Debit card that they purchased them from.
