Scorpions secure trophy
Stamford Bridge Scorpions, sponsored by Direct Tile Importers, secured a perfect end to the season by winning the York RI five-a-side tournament. It was no less than the Scorpions deserved after an excellent second half to the season.

Cricket legends back Pock
The draw for the first Pocklington six-a-side tournament took place at Lord’s on the second day of the first Test against the West Indies. First team skipper Matt Atkinson travelled to Lord’s to meet with two legends of the game, Gladstone Small and Colin Croft, to draw the teams.

Stamford Bridge second XI travelled away to Leeds to play Whitkirk and came away with a resounding win built around a fine unbeaten 79 from Dr Roddy Vann and a five-wicket haul from captain Ollie Pimlott.

Pocklington Cricket Club’s second team is looking for an umpire to officiate in their games in the York Senior League division six on Saturday afternoons.
U13s show character
Pocklington CC Under-13s defeated Drax in their second match of the season and showed a lot of character in doing so.

Bubwith tennis club’s mixed first team had a good result this week with a win away to Poppleton, the final score was 56-52. Liz Bramley and Jon Longthorp top scored with 23 games.
Stamina challenge for runners
The second leg of the YDRRL 10K series of races took place in Tadcaster on a cool and, largely, dry evening. The course includes a couple of steep hills which challenged the season stamina of the 233 runners.
Walker keeps on jumping
Fourteen-year-old Chelsea Walker from Shiptonthorpe did really well at the English Schools Combined Championships at Exeter, coming seventh out of the whole of the UK.
Sunshine for Sutton
After a quiet week for Sutton upon Derwent tennis club, with most fixtures cancelled due to the wet weather, the second mixed team played at home on Wednesday night in the sunshine against Appleton Roebuck.
