Road safety barriers for children
Residents have been urging action on the stretch of road close to South Hunsley School where 100 children use a path just a few feet away from traffic travelling at 70mph.
The Highways Agency and East Riding Council are now on site. The agency is installing metre- high pedestrian guard rails from the Welton interchange while the council is diverting the footway for 500 metres across land belonging to St Anne’s School and South Hunsley School.

We are extremely grateful to both bodies for this.
“Many parents of students from the west of the school have expressed their concerns to us and there is relief all round that by April their children will be so much safer when walking and cycling to and from school.”
Some 41,000 drivers use the road daily.
