Called to account
I AM absolutely disgusted at a charge for dialling the directory enquiries 118 118 number. I have eight calls to them in the last quarter and the total is over £40!
I am sure people do not realise this cost – the older people looking for doctors or dental surgeries etc will not be aware that the call will cost over £4 per call. Many people can find numbers on the internet but does every pensioner have a computer?
People need to be warned of this extortionate cost.
Farmers bottom of the heap

Hide AdHOW things change. During the 1939-1945 war, when ration books were order of the day, some of the best friends farmers had were politicians, especially those seeking the favour of a leg of pork or a side of ham or bacon – a patty of butter – a dozen eggs, etc. These days politicians don’t seem to give a damn about farmers. When are politicians going to pull their socks up and stop greedy supermarkets and milk processors from milking farmers by offering them a take it or leave it price for their produce?
Hard-working farmers are supposed to spread muck, not to have it thrown at them.
Year ahead

JUST as with spotting the first cuckoo of spring, on recently visiting Country Baskets in Leeds today I noted they had on sale 2013 diaries and calendars. Amazing, considering the summer has not yet arrived!
Are they the first for 2013?
