FLEET-footed students from a local school gave it their all in a regional performing arts competition.

Over 60 pupils from Woldgate College, ranging from ages 11-16, took part in this year’s Humberside Police Rock Challenge which was held at Bridlington Spa.

The group received the award for Best Soundtrack on the evening.

Their performance “History is Herstory Too” explored the changing role of women in our society.

Lisa McDaid, from the school, said: “They performed very well and really enjoyed the experience.

“It was a great opportunity for the students to see the work created by other schools and the standard was very high.”

The champions of the competition were Longcroft School and Performing Arts College who go through to the Northern Grand Open Final.

Altogether, 824 youngsters from schools across the East Riding participated in the event.
