Multi-Award winning stand-up, television and movie star, Omid Djalili is back on tour with his brand new comedy show, which he is bringing to Pocklington Arts Centre as a warm-up for his jaunt around the country.
“We are very pleased and excited to have secured a date with Omid prior to his nationwide tour,” Arts Centre assistant manager James Duffy said.
“He has a huge profile in the UK, where he has performed sell-out performances at both the London Palladium and Hammersmith Apollo - so to have him performing in Pocklington is fantastic.
“We expect the event to sell out very fast so early booking is advised.
“Stand-up comedy has always been extremely popular at PAC with our monthly Mirth Comedy Comedy Club selling out month after month.
“In the last 12 months we have added some additional events with headline acts such as Russell Kane, Lee Nelson and Greg Davies.
“In the last few years many of the nations top comedians have appeared at the venue when they were still relatively unknown. Recent examples include Rhod Gilbert, Jason Manford, Mark Watson and Sarah Millican.”
A firm favourite at the Edinburgh Festival with his legendary performances, Omid’s stand-up awards include the Time Out award for Best Stand Up and the EMMA award.
He is a South Bank award nominee and a Perrier award nominee. Omid received the Best Actor award for his lead performance in The Infidel at the Turin Film Festival. The Infidel also picked up a Loaded LAFTA award for funniest film and Omid was shortlisted for the Peter Sellers award at the London Evening Standard British Film Awards.
Tickets to see Omid Djalili at the Pocklington Arts Centre on Saturday, 17 September are priced at £14 and can be bought from the box office on Market Place in Pocklington or by calling 01759 301547.
