All star cast arrives in Hull to launch New Theatre panto spectacular

The star-studded cast of Jack and the Beanstalk paid an early visit to Hull as they officially launched this year’s action-packed New Theatre family pantomime, Jack and the Beanstalk.

One of the country’s favourite pantomime dames and all-round entertainer Christopher Biggins, makes his Hull debut in the role of Dame Trot. Chris is set to dish out huge helpings of comedy aided and abetted by Bob Carolgees. Bob, who plays Farmer Bob, will be accompanied by his famous canine creation - Spit the Dog.

Christopher Biggins has enjoyed a hugely-successful career in television, film and theatre. His countless television appearances include being crowned King of the Jungle on ITV’s I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here!, winner of Celebrity Come Dine with Me on Channel 4, as well as making regular appearances on Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway. Christopher recently appeared in the film adaptation of the stage play Run For Your Wife which was released last year. He has established himself as one of the country’s most outstanding pantomime performers having honed his on-stage skills with numerous appearances in pantomime throughout his career.

Bob Carolgees shot to stardom as part of the Tiswas team, where his gentle humour and colourful comic creations such as Charlie monkey, Houdi Elbow and most famously Spit the Dog, brought joy to millions. He also appeared on regular slots on Cilla Black’s Surprise, Surprise, Hold Tight! and the children’s game show Concentration. He even scored a Top 30 hit and bagged a Top Of The Pops appearance with The Four Bucketeers.

Hull’s celebrated pantomime is famed for its stunning sets, spectacular costumes and sparkling performances along with non-stop comedy. Featuring a larger-than-life beanstalk and one very mean giant at the top of it, Jack and the Beanstalk combines all of the traditional elements of a family pantomime with stunning visual effects. This is pantomime at its best!
