Pocklington CC Under-13s defeated Drax in their second match of the season and showed a lot of character in doing so.
They recovered from 7-3 to declare on 84-5. The main contributors were Harry Isenstein (30 retired) and Kim Russell (30 retired).
Drax managed only 35-7. Dan Isenstein and Jonty Peters were the outstanding bowlers and Tom Scrowston kept wicket well.
Pocklington Under-13s lost a low-scoring cup match at Bolton Percy but learnt valuable lessons about batting on unseasonably slow pitches. In spite of scoring only 52, they contained their opponents up to the final over in an exciting finish.
Pocklington U13s’ batting at Heworth B showed renewed concentration as they totalled 119-7. Dan Isenstein (32), Kieron Reaney (32) and Alex Smith (18) batted particularly well and Alex then went on to take three wickets as Heworth were bowled out for 52.
Pocklington have now won all three of their league matches.
