Thirteen year-old Chelsea Walker, from Shiptonthorpe, is making firm strides on the athletics field.
Chelsea runs for the City of York in the 300m and, at the age of 12, achieved the UK record in that distance.
At Wakefield, Chelsea came second in the 300m, against people three to five years older than her.
She has also received two gold medals at the Humberside championship in the 75m and 800m races, and came first in the 75m at the Humberside School’s track and field championship.
Following on from these successes, Chelsea came first in the East Riding Schools combined event (pentathlon) and made the Humberside team.
She went on to the combined event championship and came in the top five in the North East regional round, qualifying for the final of the English Schools combined event championship at Exeter.
