No laughs in Clowne run

Mike Pullon continued his search for form on hills by travelling to North Derbyshire to run the Clowne half marathon.

Organised by the Clowne Road Runners Club, this event has a fearsome reputation for lots of hills and bad weather.

The relentless uphill sections from the start to three miles, followed by another at four to six miles, and then from eight to 12 miles were made even tougher by the strong and blustery headwinds, with many runners reduced to a laboured shuffle.

Mike finished just inside his target time, with aching legs, in 1:38:28 in position 110/509 (V50 22/79).

Pocklington Runners meet for training runs on Wednesday evenings at the Rugby Club at 6.30pm. For full details visit
