In addition to a big Yorkshire One promotion race win on the pitch over Bridlington on Saturday, it was also a busy day off the pitch for Pocklington RUFC.
Guests of honour were the Mayor of Pocklington, Councillor Graham Perry, and Yorkshire RFU senior vice-president, Steve Watson, who joined RFU development officers, and mini rugby players and parents to officially open the club’s Kilnwick Park ground.
Though the club has owned the ground for a decade, it has only recently become fully operational thanks to a massive amount of volunteer work from parents and club officials to improve drainage and provide fencing and car parking at the site.
The official party then returned to Percy Road to unveil the commemorative wall of named bricks in the changing room and present special ties to life members and patrons - their combined contribution making a major input towards the development appeal.
And finally, the RFUs Whole Club Seal of Approval, which recognises that Pocklington is run to the highest of welfare standards, was presented.
