Athletics: Medal haul for Pocklington School pupils at Athletics championships

A group of Pocklington School athletes attended the HMC North Athletics Championships at Gateshead on Wednesday 1 May.

The junior boys were placed second overall and the school came back with four gold medals, six silver medals and four bronze medals.

“The athletes enjoyed the sunshine in the newly-renovated Gateshead athletics stadium and recorded their best ever medal haul,” said Mr Steve Spruyt, assistant director of sport. “This was a great achievement, especially with a number of athletes competing a year young in their age category.”

Gold Medalists:

Jack Garvin - 200m (Junior Boys)

Tracey Fofie - Shot Putt (Junior Girls)

Ross Walker - High Jump (Intermediate Boys)

Will Sangwin, Josh Parkinson, John Soanes, James Glew - 4x100 Relay (Intermediate Boys)

Silver Medalists:

Jack Medforth - Long Jump and Triple Jump (Junior Boys)

Will Sangwin - Long Jump (Intermediate Boys)

Bryony Underwood - High Jump (Junior Girls)

Georgie Fenny - Javelin (Intermediate Girls)

Jack Medforth, James laudage, Elliot Adamson, Jack Garvin - 4x100 Relay (Junior Boys)

Bronze Medalists:

Adelle Kama - 200m (Intermediate Girls)

Callum Stubbs - Shot Putt (Junior Boys)

Elliot Adamson - Discus (Junior Boys)
