Pocklington is growing rapidly and so is the level of traffic in the town.
I am concerned for the safety of our all of our road users and I would like to share with readers a simple method of opening a car door which can help to avoid accidents. It is called the Dutch Reach because this is how Dutch children are taught to open car doors .
All you need to do is reach over with the opposite hand to the one you would normally use . For the driver this means the left hand.
It helps you turn and check there is nothing in the blind spot behind you before you open the door.
If you are a passenger use your right hand and avoid walloping a passing pedestrian. Simple and it costs nothing.
