I refer to the letter from Mr Durkin(17 March).
If I follow this letter correctly, Mr Durkin appears to be complaining that Pocklington Arts Centre may be receiving funding via the UK tax system for its improvements, which I assume implies he think the Arts centre needs to be self-sufficient. I find this opinion rather hard to follow.
As a UK tax payer, personally I am delighted that something as important as Oak House is receiving national and local funding to keep it going. The Pocklington Arts Centre is an important asset to a small market town such as ours: it provides us with a cinema, a theatre for live performances and of course also sponsors the fantastic annual Platform Festival too.
I hope that if Janet Farmer and her team are receiving assistance from UK tax sources, long may they continue to do so.
