The Wolds Childminding Group recently held a toddlers treasure hunt at Burnby Hall Gardens in Pocklington in aid of a pair of good causes.

All money raised is to be split between Barnardo’s, the charity which supports vulnerable children in the UK, and the ongoing upgrade of the play area at the gardens.

Deborah Waite, a Pocklington childminder, explained: “Burnby Hall Gardens is a lovely place for children to explore and the play area is always popular.

“It was a logical choice for the children to want to support the planned improvements of the equipment.

“The weather was gorgeous and as well as the trail there was soft play courtesy of Bugthorpe under-fives Pre-school.

“The children loved the cat and dog-themed face painting and animal stories”

The Wolds Childminding Group covers childminders across Pocklington, Market Weighton and the surrounding villages.

“It’s an opportunity to give children the chance not just to thrive in a home-from-home environment, but also to work together with other children and develop their understanding from an early age,” added Ms Waite.

Anyone in the local area in need of a childminder in the East Riding can call the Families’ Information Service Hub (FISH) on (01482) 396469.The hub can access information on childcare settings in an area of your choice and provide contact details, costs, opening times and school collection information.
