A vibrant musical is set to be performed in Pocklington.
‘Dream On’, staged by community theatre group Pocklington Productions, tells the story of confused love, magic intervention from the mischievous Puck (Francesca Turton), and the chaotic attempts of the workmen to entertain the Duke of Athens (Mike Hastings) and his court. In the chaos Bottom (Marcus Richardson) gets turned into a donkey, and the queen of the fairies (Anna Myatt) falls head over heels in love with him. It is Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Nights Dream, but in modern words, and full of catchy songs.
Dream On has been directed by local students Josh Dowden and Marcus Richardson, and reflects their buoyant energy and imagination. The cast and musicians are all local.
Performances are on 24 and 25 April at 7.30pm at All Saints’ Church, Pocklington. Tickets cost £7, £6 for concessions, and are available from Pocklington Music and York Theatre Royal.
