Pocklington Post reader Les Waby has conducted some research into the man who Betterton Court in Pocklington, where Les lives, is named after - Victor Edward Betterton.

Betterton Court in Pocklington was named in memory of pilot Sergeant Victor Betterton, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve who died on 5 May 1943, aged 32.

Halifax bomber DG419 was on a training flight from RAF Rufforth, in North Yorkshire, when it crashed at Fridaythorpe with no survivors from the crew of six.
