Artists in the Pocklington area will open their doors to visitors next month for this year’s Open Studios event.

The area around Pocklington is a creative hub in the East Riding. For the last four years artists and craft workers have joined forces to put on an Open Studios event and this year looks as though it will be bigger and better than ever.

Twenty one artists around the Pocklington area have come together in 11 venues to showcase their work. During the weekend of 7 and 8 May, from 10am–5pm, there is a chance to see where they work and what they produce.

With paintings, ceramics, textiles, jewellery, photography, wood, leatherwork, and enamels being exhibited, there’s something for everyone.

To help visitors make the most of their day out, a circular route has been planned. You can join at any point and spend as much time as you want talking to the artists about their work and inspiration, refreshments will be available.

Most of the artists will be demonstrating their work throughout the day, though timed demonstrations are taking place. A list of these, as well as a suggested route can be seen on the leaflets, which are available from Fangfoss Pottery, call 01759 368384. Alternatively, ring Penny De Corte on 01759 301076. Leaflets are also available from outlets in and around Pocklington.

There will be direction signs with pink and purple balloons during the event.
