Shiptonthorpe heritage project is inviting people to attend its next collection day on Saturday (16 May).
The project, the biggest in the history of the village, has been established to create a book and a digital record documenting the history of the village. The project is focussing on visual and oral records and the collection day is a chance to meet people and share stories, anecdotes and memories.
After the collection day, that takes place between 12 and 2pm at Shiptonthorpe Village Hall, guest speaker Lizzie Baker from East Riding Council Archive Department will talk about Shiptonthorpe’s history.
Alan Heaven, the chairman of the project, said: “We’re aiming to promote the identity of the village through history and contemporary events.
“We are keen to involve all groups and individuals in the village and interview those who have moved away, so if you have any information or memories of life in the village, please come and join us on Saturday.”
Photographs and records will be scanned and returned during the collection day.
