Guiding leaders in the area met at Burnby Hall Gardens for their annual dinner and social evening.

This event provides an opportunity for the adult leaders of the Rainbow, Brownie, Guide and Ranger units to meet socially away from the normal meeting programme.

The leaders enjoyed viewing the gardens on a dry and pleasant evening – unusual weather for this summer.

Long Service Awards were presented to Lisa Bryce, Talitha Trynka-Watson and Pamela Broughton.

Vicki Milsom and Lizzie Kennedy were unable to attend and will receive awards next term.

The event also marked the end of their terms of office for the area’s commissioners and introduced the ladies taking up new appointments.

Anne Thompson takes over from Catherine Baines as District Commissioner for Pocklington and Melbourne and Jo Bell, along with Janet Olsen, will be District Commissioner jointly for Stamford Bridge and Wilberfoss, taking over from Sylvia Allison.

The new Division Commissioner will be Bronia Trynka-Watson. The new commissioners will be in place for the autumn term.

Another change is that of Residential Advisor as Lisa Bryce takes over from Andrea Palin.

Pamela Broughton, the outgoing Division Commissioner, thanked everyone for all the time and skills they have brought to Guiding locally over the years.

She also thanked all the leaders for their support during her term.

During the evening, gifts of the Girlguiding UK Centenary Rose and a Dartington glass vase were presented to hose leaving.
