Over the coming months J Rotherham, the local stonemason, will be operating in Pocklington Cemetery.
Staff at the firm will be working on headstones that are no longer level or have become unsafe.
There are 86 headstones at the site that will be worked on. A number of the headstones are leaning and these require resetting.
A town council spokesman said: “Some of headstones have become loose from the plinth and these need to be rebound and dowelled to make them more sturdy. We are informing relatives that this work is going on in and to contact us if they need more information.
“Pocklington Town Council would like to remind dog owners that there is a dog control order in the cemetery and dogs should be kept on leads while being walked through the area and that you should clean up after your dog and place any waste in the bins provided.”
If you need to contact the council please email email@example.com,uk or telephone 01759 304851.
