Market Weighton

Community Hall: The Market Weighton Branch of the YCA are meeting at 2pm. Liz Buckles will give a talk on the Benefits of Aromatherapy. Visitors will receive a warm welcome.


Pocklington Arts Centre: The High Wolds – An exhibition by York based photographer Simon Palmour (runs until Saturday 6 October). First floor exhibition, free entry. For opening times visit www.pocklingtonartscentre.co.uk.

The Pavilion: Wilberfest will showcase some of the best tribute acts in the country, set in the five acres at the Pavilion venue Visit https://www.wilberfest.co.uk/festival to buy tickets for Wilberfest.


Aldby Park: Family Fun Dog Day. Lots of fun dog show and novelty classes with entries from noon. Classes start at 12.30pm. Refreshments from noon. Stalls. Open gardens. Admission £5 per car. The gun dog scurry starts at 10.30am.


The Star: A Family fun day will be held between 12.30pm and 6pm. There will be fun dog show, tug of war, kids sporting challenge, Futsal Speed Kick challenge, bouncy castles, sumo suits, face painting and glitter tattoos, slime station, tombola and raffle, and BBQ and bar. Entry is free with a small donation for each activity. All funds go towards a new community project in Market Weighton.

Fangfest: A village celebration of traditional crafts. Pottery demonstrations and have a go sessions, rocking horse carving, scarecrow trail, traditional wood turning demonstrations. The festival runs between 10am and 4pm.

2 September


Knavesmire: St Leonard’s Hospice ‘It’s a Knockout’ event. The hospice is now urging teams to sign up for the event. Teams of between six and 10 people, over the age of 16, can enter at www.stleonardshospice.org.uk or by calling 01904 777 777.


Fangfest: A village celebration of traditional crafts. The festival runs between 10am and 4pm.

Pocklington Arts Centre: Irish Mythen – Irish born, contemporary Canadian folk artist who in recent years has performed alongside Rod Stewart and appeared on major festival bills around the world.

17 September


Pocklington Arts Centre: Hayseed Dixie – Performing bluegrass covers of hard rock songs in a musical genre they call ‘Rockgrass’. 8pm. Tickets £24.

Pocklington Arts Centre: Seann Walsh – The Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee, television regular, and the self-dubbed ‘Lie-in King’ Seann Walsh beings his stand-up show ‘After This One, I’m Going Home, 8pm. Tickets £15.

6 October


Pocklington Arts Centre: Martin Turner (Ex-Wishbone Ash) and his band return to perform their 1970s iconic Wishbone Ash debut album at 8pm. Tickets £16.

Market Weighton

Community Hall: The Market Weighton Community Hall has organised a fund-raising Local Craft Fair and is are looking to welcome 24 or so assorted craft and food stalls from the Market Weighton area and from the East Riding. Market Weighton

All Saints Church: The Carers Support Group meets on the second Wednesday of each month, 1.30pm-3pm. It is for anyone who cares for a loved one and is an informal group to give the carers a break. A Red Cross volunteer attends to give massages, you can have your blood pressure checked, and have tea/coffee and a biscuit. This is all free of charge as the Church donates the room for free.

The Community Hall, Station Road: Market Weighton Memory Café is held on the last Wednesday of every month, 1.30pm-3pm.

Social Club, 42 Southgate: The National Vintage Tractor and Engine Club meetings are held on the first Wednesday of the month at 7:30pm. New members are welcome.


All Saints Church: The church will be open to visitors every Wednesday, 10am to 4pm, June to September. Tea/coffee will be available from 10am to noon.


Bolton Methodist Church: Coffee morning between 10.30am to noon. Proceeds for the Methodist Church. All are welcome.

Bishop Wilton

Primary School: Weekly free Toddler Time session between 9.30am and 11.30am. No need to book. This is a free, friendly informal group just come along and join us, all parents, grandparents and carers are welcome.
