A Pocklington community radio station will cease broadcasting today due to a lack of volunteers.
West Wolds Radio will close today (Friday September 30) and stop broadcasting at 1pm.
The radio station tweeted yesterday: "We will cease broadcasting tomorrow (Friday) at 1:00pm and the station will close. Thanks to everyone for listening and your support."
The radio station, which launched in November last year, faced closure in April but directors and volunteers put together a rescue plan to save it.
Sadly despite the efforts of volunteers it was announced earlier this week that the station would close.
On Wednesday, Tony Marron, one of the station's directors, tweeted: "An announcement was made at lunchtime on @westwoldsradio that it is to close on Friday. Not enough volunteers to keep it going, very sad."
The radio station is a non-profit organisation and has been broadcasting around the clock to Pocklington and surrounding villages.
