Final preparations are under way in the run-up to Pocklington’s Summer Fayre this weekend.
The Summer Fayre, which will take place on West Green, is set to impress with a huge variety of activities and events for families and residents to enjoy.
With local bands performing and shows such as Punch and Judy and a magic show from The Great Manzini, the event is set to be a huge hit.
Cllr Peter Winterton, one of the event organisers, said: “Each year we have been lucky with the weather and the amount of people who turned out.
“The event raises money for the mayor’s charities which is handed out at the mayor making ceremony.”
Live music will be on offer all day with performances from the Harmonics, Djembebash, The Front, Ten 79 and Hayley’s Comets will take to the stage.
There will also be a bouncy castle, children’s rides, a games station and a giant conga which will take place at 5pm on Saturday July 30.
Last year’s event was a huge success and saw the community come together to raise £950 for charity.
Mayor of Pocklington, Cllr David Sykes said: “We are looking forward to it. It’s been successful over the past three years.
“We have an event committee that works very very hard to put on the day.
“The proceeds will be going towards the Lions. The reason for this is although they are a part of a national charity the group does a lot in the area.
“All of it depends on the weather and we’ve been really lucky the last few years.
“All in all it is a real community event for everyone.”
The fayre will begin on Saturday July 30 at 2pm and run until 9.30pm.
