Community radio station Vixen 101 is celebrating its fifth anniversary this month by having its broadcast licence renewed for a further five-year period.
The station, based on Market Weighton’s High Street, is operated by volunteers who broadcast a mix of news, features, interviews, what’s ons, outside broadcasts and music every week on 101.8FM and online.
At Christmas, Vixen 101 organised its biggest-ever line-up, with guest local presenters and three locally-produced dramas.
The broadcasting regulator, Ofcom, has awarded the station a further five-year licence to continue its really local programming in Market Weighton, Holme-on-Spalding Moor, North Cave and Pocklington, plus surrounding villages.
Manager Paul Stellings says: “We’ve had one of our busiest years since our launch in 2009, with regular outside broadcasts, bringing live radio from practically every community that we serve.
“We’d love to have more volunteers to help us with our exciting work and offer all kinds of opportunities both on and off the air.”
