An event is returning to Newton-on-Derwent for the first time in 12 years later this month.
The village is holding a Local History Exhibition and Craft Fair, which will launch on 26 September at 7.30pm in the marquee behind The Half Moon Inn, where cheese and wine will be served. Also that evening, Peter Venables will be giving a talk about the history of the village.
The exhibition will run from 11am to 6pm on both 27 and 28 September, with tea and cakes, charity stalls, local produce and a children’s activity corner.
The Saturday session will conclude with a cookery demonstration,
The Sunday session will end with a talk by Phil Gilbank about Harry Blanchard Wood VC, who was born in Newton-on-Derwent and was awardedthe Victoria Cross in World World One.
