VILLAGERS bid farewell to a vicar last week, saying she will be sadly missed.
Reverend Jo Parker was given a send off by members of the congregation of Londesborough, after she accepted a new church role in Hyde, near Manchester.
Locals held a gathering at the Londesborough Reading Room where Revd Parker was given a gift of a locally-made bowl which also depicts the parish church, to mark the end of her four years’ service to the community.
She was a member of the Pocklington Group of Churches who serve nine churches in and around Pocklington.
Local resident Barbara Ashwin said: “She will be missed terribly, she has endeared herself to us all.
She has seen us through some hard times and some difficult times, so we are all very sad to say goodbye.
“She was very pleased with her gift, it was specially made in the village so it’s certainly unique!
“We will be keeping in touch with her.”
A new curate is expected to take over from Revd Parker in the summer, with other members of the Pocklington Group of Churches expected to fill in until then.
