A villager has begun a 1,000-mile cycling challenge for charity.
Val French, 56, from Barmby Moor, is cycling from Land’s End, in Cornwall, to John O’Groats, in Caithness, Scotland.
She began her cycling mission on Wednesday 24 July with her friend Marianne Layden-Smith, from Oundle in Northamptonshire.
The pedalling pals, who are both school teachers, hope to complete the challenge by next Wednesday.
Val has a keen interest in working with pupils with special needs and is hoping to raise funds for ‘Cycling for the Disabled’, through the York-based charity ‘Snappy’, in the hope of providing an adapted bike for the pupils to enjoy and use.
