Sixth Formers from Pocklington School recently cooked up some delicious meals from out-of-sell-by-date food in MasterChef-style challenges using ingredients donated by Tesco.

Students competed in pairs against each other, working against the clock to create meals from ingredients they had no prior knowledge of. Judges from the School and Tesco’s then sampled the dishes and judged them on technical skill, appearance and taste.

Cookery teacher Anne-Marie Salmon said: “The students come to my after-school cookery club and have made tremendous progress.

“There’s always a lot of teamwork and friendly competition – and this challenge was no exception.

“I’m very grateful to Tesco for getting so enthusiastically involved.”
