Two motorists hurt in serious traffic accident on A614 near Middleton-on-the-Wolds

Serious two vehicle road traffic collision, A614 westbound, nr Middleton on the Wolds.

Two motorists were injured when their vehicles collided shortly after 0715hrs on the A614 today (Wed 3 April 2013) approximately 1.5 miles west of Middleton on the Wolds.

The collision occurred when a white Citroen dispatch van which was traveling westbound on the A614 is believed to have veered into the opposite side of the carriageway colliding with an oncoming vehicle, a white Ford Transit van.

The driver of the white Ford Transit van, a 44 year old man from South Yorkshire sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to Hull Royal Infirmary where he is receiving treatment for crush injuries.

The driver of the Citroen dispatch van, a 26 year old local man was also injured and officers from the Fire Service assisted in extracting him from his vehicle after which he was taken by ambulance to Hull Royal Infirmary. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening at this time.

The A614 was closed at the Londesborough roundabout from approximately 0800hrs until around 1215hrs to enable necessary investigations and clear up work to take place.

Police enquiries are continuing to establish events leading up to the collision and police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident, and did not speak to police at the scene to contact them on the non emergency number 101 quoting log number 89 of Wed 3 April 2013.
