Two community groups in the area are among just 43 organisations in Yorkshire who have been selected to receive a prestigious royal award.

Wolds Wonders, a music and drama group, and Stamford Bridge in Bloom, are set to receive the Duke of York’s Community Initiative award. Each year the Initiative seeks to identify and recognise outstanding community work from across the whole of Yorkshire. Later this month, representatives from Wolds Wonders and Stamford Bridge in Bloom will join fellow 2014 award holders at a presentation ceremony and lunch at Magna Science Adventure Centre near Rotherham at which the Duke of York, Prince Andrew, will present them with their citations.
