The highly anticipated start and finish times for the Tour de Yorkshire have been revealed, along with the ceremonial start routes.
Millions of spectators are expected to line the route of the three day men’s race and one day women’s race which run between 29 April and 1 May. Riders will travel through the region during stage one of the Tour.
Stage one begins in Beverley before the peloton races to Holme on the Wolds and then Market Weighton along Londesborough Road, Market Place and Holme Road, and then on westwards through Holme-on-Spalding Moor, Foggathorpe and Bubwith. From there, the peloton will race to Tadcaster and on to Knaresborough. Taking in some of the Grand Depart 2014 route, a series of climbs takes the riders past Brimham Rocks before a finish in Settle.
Stage one will begin at 11.50am in the Saturday Market square in Beverley on 29 April.
The approximate timings for the race passing through our region are as follows: Market Weighton at 12.40pm, Holme-on-Spalding Moor at 12.51pm and Foggathorpe at 1pm. Key points along the route include the first sprint point at Bubwith at 1.06pm.
On stage two, men and women will face exactly the same stage which starts in Otley. From Otley riders travel south towards Conisbrough Castle and on to Doncaster.
Stage three starts in Middlesbrough, then into Herriot Country before tackling the infamous Sutton Bank, the first of six King of the Mountain points in just one stage. Riders then head over the North York Moors and down towards Scarborough for what promises to be a thrilling finale.
