VILLAGE youngsters helped bolster a bid for In Bloom success by rolling up their sleeves for a tree-planting initiative.
The children from Dunnington Primary School took part in the scheme to plant native saplings thanks to deal between the RHS’s Britain In Bloom competition and the Woodland Trust.
A spokesperson for Dunnington in Bloom said : “The scheme helps bring the whole community together, especially with the help of children who are, after all the ‘In Bloomers’ of tomorrow.”
Dunnington will be pushing for more flower-filled glory this year in both Yorkshire In Bloom and Britain In Bloom.
The village already has a clutch of gold medals from the regional competition down the years, and have come close to taking the top award in the national contest in previous years.
The In Bloom committee work are known for working all year round to keep the village in pristine condition.
