TEENAGe musical duo Palms13 say they are happy to have taken second prize in an online competition.
The Pocklington School twosome, made up of Finlay Henderson and Billy Risso-Gill, polled 849 votes in the ‘Live Lounge’ contest, 15.6 per cent of the total.
They were selected as one of ten finalists across Britain after receiving thousands of views on website YouTube for their cover version of Paulo Nutini’s ‘Pencil Full of Lead’.
And while they may have missed out on the top prize, they were overjoyed to have snatched the runners-up spot. It means they now pick up hundreds of pounds worth of musical equipment.
Fin commented: “The prize for coming first was to go and record a song with him in a studio, which is great, but the whole reason we joined the competition was after we saw the second prize of the home equipment so we could record better sounding stuff at home, so to have achieved that it is great.
“So to have won what I was saving up for anyway - about £400 worth - and to also get a £50 Animal clothes voucher, how could anyone be disappointed!
“We generally do appreciate so much anyone who did vote, without them we would be without any of the equipment, and the pride, of coming second.
“Anyone else who looked at our videos or anything, it helps so much, to keep any band going you need support, so to anyone who is doing, thank you.”
The lads, who are just 14, could soon be heading into the studio having already been offered a one-year contract by a music label.
