The search is on to find the most talented performers in Pocklington.

The town’s annual talent show, Pocklington’s Got Talent, will be held next month at Pocklington Arts Centre.

The event’s organisers - the town council and Pocklington Arts Centre - are hoping this year’s show attracts a variety of performers, including dancers, musicians, magicians and comedians.

Profits from the competition will go towards Mayor of Pocklington, councillor Martin Ratcliffe’s two chosen charities - Pocklington Canal Amenity Society and Pocklington uniformed groups. Coun Ratcliffe said: “We really do hope to attract sufficient entries to run the event this year. We know there are talented people who live in the area and just urge them to come forward.”

Last year’s event was cancelled just days before it was due to take place because a lack of residents entered the competition. This year’s contest, at 7pm on 25 April, will feature two categories, under 18 and over 18, with the winner of each section winning a £100 prize.

If you are interested in taking part, collect an entry form from Pocklington Arts Centre’s box office or the council offices on George Street. Once completed, return the form to the box office or council office before 18 April. Tickets for the audience are £5, with £3 concession for under 16’s.
