Residents across the region are being invited to take a tour of Shiptonthorpe’s sixth Living Advent to raise funds for the village hall.
The Living Advent is based on a Swiss tradition and villagers take it in turns to illuminate one festive window in their houses from 1 to 24 December.
All of the windows remain lit from dusk until 10pm to the end of December to give everyone plenty of chance to see the creative displays.
Organiser Janet Miller said: “This year, almost a quarter of the houses in the village will be participating in the Advent windows, so it promises to be a spectacular event.”
To ensure that people do not miss out any houses, the Shiptonthorpe Village Hall Committee has organised an Advent Windows Walk between 5pm and 8pm on 30 December. Maps of all of the advent locations will be available in the village hall. Organisers are asking for donations to help kit out the extension.
